Also available is our newest book that was not included in the campaign. THE RESISTANTS: Special Edition #1 Blank Sketch Variant Cover features the trade dress from our G.I. Joe Homage cover series on a blank cover for you, or your favorite artist, to draw on. This is a really fun way to get a one-of-a-kind collectible. We’ll have a few of these with original sketches drawn by Big Blue Comics’ artists available in the next campaign.
THE RESISTANTS: The Definitive Guidebook is finally finished! It feels so good to write that. I sent the completed files to the printer last week. Now we are just waiting to go through the production and shipping process. It should take about 2 weeks for the printer to complete the books, and at least another week for me to receive the them, before I can ship them out to backers in a few weeks.
All backers should have their digital rewards now. The links and information were sent out this week, so be sure to check your inboxes and filters. I’ll post more updates on the printing process here, through social media, and the campaign page.

Our last convention appearance of the year is coming up at the Baltimore Comic Con October 28th-30th. This is another great event with a strong emphasis on comics. If your in the area, I hope you can make it and don’t forget to stop by Artist’s Alley table #E4 and check out all the cool stuff. Though this is our last convention of the year, we are making plans for some store signings this year to be announced soon.
In spite of all of the setbacks and delays, we are so close. I’m combing the book over and over to make sure every page is perfect. Everyday I’m making it sharper, clearer, and better. I’m actually having a lot of fun rewriting the characters backstory, and making sure that every detail is the best it can be. I’m in the home stretch and will be sending it off to the printer very soon. Thank you to all the backers who have been patiently waiting these last few months. The wait is almost over and you’ll have the books soon enough. I am so proud of this project and am so excited to finally share it. After all rewards are delivered, we will make a limited amount available through our website for those who may have missed out on the campaign. We have 3 convention appearances in the next 3 weeks, starting with the Long Beach Comic Con this weekend! THE RESISTANTS: The Definitive Guidebookis almost finished and going to the printer soon. I’m pushing to still get the books out by the end of this month. But I don’t know if that will happen.
I’m still putting the finishing touches on the book before sending them off to the printer. I don’t like to give excuses, but after getting sick and my data loss, it put me back farther than I hoped and was a lot more work than I anticipated. The book is about 95% done and I’ll be sending it off to the printer soon enough. Since we are using a printer here in the states, it will only take a couple weeks to get them back. I’m doing everything I can to get them out this month as planned, so backers can have them in their hands on time. I’ll post more updates here, through social media, and the campaign page.

Production rolls on for THE RESISTANTS: The Definitive Guidebook. The Kickstarter backer surveys were sent out last week with the book on schedule for late-summer/early-fall. Before that, we have a few convention appearances with the Denver Fan Expo this weekend.
I’m still waiting for a few responses to the THE RESISTANTS: The Definitive Guidebooksurveys. If you backed the project, please check your inboxes and spam folders. We just need a little bit of information from you; for example, if you want your books signed, or if you need to change your address. I’m still putting the finishing touches on the production and text before I can send the book to the printer next month. Despite getting sick and my computer recently crashing, we are still on track to deliver the guidebook to backers by September as estimated. After all backers have received their rewards, the book will be made available through our website and convention appearances. I’ll continue to update on the progress here, through social media, and the campaign page.
This weekend is the Denver Fan Expo and writer/creator K.J. Kaminski will be in Artist Valley. If your in the area, come over to table #A78 to check out all the books in person or just chat about comics. The Denver Fan Expo is July 1-3 at the Colorado Convention Center.

This book has been a long time coming and I’m so excited to launch it this month. A lot of hours have been invested in making this the best book it can be. Starting at 48 pages this comic book-sized definitive guidebook contains over 40+ new illustrations from some of the best artists Big Blue Comics has to offer. This campaign is set up to enhance the main book with the stretch goals. Once we are funded we’ll add more pages, characters, and new art to the book- so the better we do, the more the rewards increase in value. Along with the new guidebook, we’ll also have an exclusive Variant Edition, T-Shirt, and trading cards. Check out the preview page here and follow for the launch April 19th.

After the events of The Broadcast Offensive story-arc, the characters from both books will collide in THE RESISTANTS: The Bounty Hunter Blitz. Before that, we are going to release THE RESISTANTS: Definitive Guidebook, a Who’s Who Official Handbook for the characters of the HYPER-ACTION WORLD. “You can’t follow the game if you don’t know the players.” We’ll be revealing more details about the upcoming campaign in the next couple of weeks. Although things have started out a little shaky for 2022, we are moving forward with the hope we will return to some type of normalcy soon enough. I’m booking convention appearances, planning our next Kickstarter, and working on more of THE RESISTANTS story. Regardless of what happens, no one can stop us from making more awesome comics.
If you’ve been following the stories in THE RESISTANTS & HYPER-ACTION, you know we’ve been introducing a lot of Bounty Hunters. I wanted to add a few fun and special items with this campaign. So in addition to the Definitive Guidebook, we’ll also have available: a trading card set, an exclusive THE RESISTANTS team T-shirt, and stretch-goal sticker packs! We’ll also have a limited amount of issues signed by multiple creators from the Big Blue Comics Vault. All this and an exclusive Variant Edition of Polyzena #1 from HYPER-ACTION. With all the extras, it feels like I’m wrapping up this first phase of Big Blue Comics with this upcoming campaign. Look for it to launch March 22nd on Kickstarter and a preview page coming next month with more info.
Though our schedule for 2022 is filling in with dates for conventions, it seems like everything should be considered tentative at this point. Two conventions that I had booked this year were already cancelled in January and February. In April we plan to return to Planet City Comic Con in Kansas City, MO the 22nd-24th.
Though the focus seems to be on THE RESISTANTS right now, don’t forget about Sophia Saturn and the recent completion of the first story-arc. “Sophia’s grand plan has a wormhole in it!” There are some big things to talk about with Sophia and Big Blue Comics in the future. We’ve been publishing for the last few years, building towards taking that next step. It’s so great working on new projects and plans that will allow that to happen. I hope you’ll stick with us for this next phase. Big Blue Comics 2.0 is coming soon!
The holidays are wrapping up and it’s the end of another year. It was a year marked with uncertainty, but a lot of familiarity and some new beginnings for Big Blue Comics. I think all of us are looking forward to a better 2022 and continuing to get closer to some kind of normalcy. We have some really exciting things coming up next year and I hope you’ll come along for the journey.
This year saw the completion of the first story-arc for Sophia Saturn, with issues #4 & #5 released through our Kickstarter campaign and BigBlueComics.com. These are also the 12th and 13th releases from Big Blue Comics joining our other series THE RESISTANTS & HYPER-ACTION. I have to admit I thought we’d have more books out by now, but I don’t think anyone could foresee uncontrollable factors like a pandemic. I’m looking forward to so much more coming from us in the near future as we are in production on the next THE RESISTANTS mini-series and more issues of HYPER-ACTION.
After a two year hiatus, I returned to conventions in November with the Grand Rapids Comic Con in Michigan &The San Diego Comic Con Special Edition. It was a different and challenging experience, but it was great to see so many friends, fans, and colleagues after such a long time. I always feel at home at conventions and I’m really excited to get back to them full time next year. I’ll be traveling all over the country in 2022 to conventions and local comic shops bringing our books to you. So far, we are confirmed at the Planet Comic Con in Kansas City in April and Phoenix Fan Fusion in May.
